Archives and documents relating to the Somerset & Dorset railway were transferred to the Somerset Heritage Centre (ie country record office) in Taunton in October 2011. This will ensure that the material continues to be properly cared for in an appropriate environment and is easily accessible to anyone.
All enquiries for access and information, whether analogue or digital, should be directed to the Heritage Centre. A catalogue of items, which also indicates if any item has been scanned and is in digital form, may be accessed here: Archive, Tickets, Drawings
When making a request concerning a particular item held by Somerset Heritage Centre where possible please quote the catalogue number (Accession No) of the item that you require access to (eg A301 or D1234) and location - ie which box, drawer or roll it was originally in (eg Box SP2, Roll AF or Drawer PD5) if known.
The Trust's material is recorded by the Heritage Centre as follows:
This collection also includes the archive of the Somerset and Dorset Railway Trust. Currently an Excel database of the catalogue is available, please ask staff for details; alternatively visit the website of the Trust.
