No 88 Heads South Again!

M7 30053 of the Swanage Railway leaving Corfe Castle bound for Swanage.
Corfe Castle will soon form a backdrop to No. 88 when she visits the Swanage Railway in September
The Trust’s former S&DJR 7F No. 88 will be heading back to the South coast in September when it visits the Swanage Railway.
A loan agreement has been reached between The West Somerset Railway and the Swanage Railway after the Trust gave its consent to both parties.
Although a few miles along the coast from its old Bournemouth West haunt where it helped out on holiday excursions to Bath as a change from its freight duties, No 88 will no doubt welcome a change of sea air from its usual dose of Bristol Channel breeze !.
This will be the first visit of 88 to the Swanage Railway and the engine will no doubt be a star attraction at the railway’s Gala to be run from 11th to 13th of September.
Photographs and more news about 88’s visit will appear in the next edition of The Pines Express.
