Description: The model portrays a small town gas production plant in the midst of extensive industrial development. It is set in a broad period from the 1930s to early 1950s. There is no particular attachment to one railway company, but there is a strong London Midland and Scottish bias due to the availability of that stock. A taste of Switzerland too by Roger Ellis Gauge HOm Description: When thinking of Swiss Railways most people remember little red trains going through tunnels, around spirals and over bridges. This layout has all these as well as cantenary, signals and those Swiss Chalets you see on the front of chocolate boxes.
Cheddar S&DJR by Simon Challis Gauge 18.83 P4 Description: The Somerset and Dorset Railway branch to Cheddar left the Glastonbury to Highbridge line at Shapwick going through Wedmore and several villages before getting to Cheddar. The Line was upgraded from a light railway when the quarries decided to send stone out through this route. Passenger facilities were not upgraded as GWR Cheddar Valley line seemed to take most of the traffic. Binns Road Junction by Donald and Gloria Hillyar Hornby Duplo - 3 Rail Description: Appropriately landscaped for a 1950s scene, showing what modellers of many years ago tried to do with 3-rail. There are expresses, local stopping trains, goods and branch line trains. The centre of the layout features a five platform junction with a branch climbing to Moghull village, where there is a station, goods shed, coal merchant's siding and a cleaning & coaling siding for the branch engine. (Moghull was the real-life village where Frank Hornby lived until his death in 1936). The siding from the right-hand side of the junction goes to a Meccano factory, as a tribute to Frank Hornby, the inventor of Mecano and Hornby Trains. Shillingford by Shaftesbury and Gillingham Railway Society Gauge N Description: The layout represents a single track cross country route in the West Country, drawing its influence from the Somerset and Dorset line and is set in the early British Railways era circa 1960. The layout is designed to have a rural atmosphere. Features include a viaduct, a short branch to a quarry and a small village. Edington Junction by Shepton and District Model Railway Society Gauge 00 Description: Edington Junction was on the Somerset and Dorset branch line that ran from Evercreech Junction to Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea. As the name implies it was the junction station where the line diverged to Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea via Highbridge. The line to Bridgwater ran ran from the bay platform, whilst the Burnham-on-Sea trains used the passing loops into the main platform. As was usual at country stations there was a small goods yard dealing with coal and cattle. The period modelled is that of the late 1950s early 1960s. Phil Beckey Phil exhibited a fine model of 92204 Evercreech Junction by Trevor Diggle Gauge 0 Trevor is building a layout of Evercreech Junction, inspired perhaps by his visits to Edington. East Lear Depot by Dave Lear Gauge 00 Description: An imaginary modern image layout with plenty of diesel action. There are two engine sheds on the layout with a maintenance shed in the middle. The side of the layout features a bus and fire station, also a farm yard. Thomas's Junction by Richard Pretious Gauge 00 This layout features Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. Included in the many characters you could see were Duck, Percy, Gordon and Edward.
